Belgian Lions in search of renewed succes in Antwerp

Belgian National Team certainly made quite a debut in Antwerp’s Lotto Arena. Winning all three home games, coach Eddy Casteels’ troups won their group, but missed qualifying for Eurobasket 2009 in Poland by a thread. Especially the wins against Bosnia and France, in front of a jam-packed Lotto Arena with 5 000 fans, will forever stand in Belgium’s collective basketball memory.
For the 2010 campaign, manager Jacques Ledure has again opted for the Lotto Arena in the city of Antwerp, the cradle of Belgian basketball. Tickets will again be sold at very affordable prices.
If not hindered by injuries, Axel Hervelle, Didier Mbenga, Sam Van Rossom and co hope to team up again in a sold out Lotto Arena.
And a strong sixth man will certainly prove handy, with opponents such as Poland, Georgia (with NBA player Zaza Pachulia from the Atlanta Hawks), Portugal and Bulgaria. Coach Casteels and his team dream of qualifying for the European Championships in Lithuania in 2012. After all, it has been 17 years since the Belgian national team qualified for this basketball feast. In order to do so, the Belgian National team will rely on a huge crowd turn up in the Lotto Arena in August 2010. One Team, no Limits! For more information, www.belgianlions.com
